What is Acupuncture?
The ancient art of healing-acupuncture has been practiced for over 3000 years. Acupuncture is an effective form of health care that has evolved and is widely accepted today by both patients and the medical community. Acupuncture is restorative and helps the body achieve natural balance, essentially by activating the body’s ability to self-heal.
TOA uses Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and French Auricular acupuncture systems based on each patient's consultation, tongue and pulse diagnosis.
Acupuncture balances the flow of energy by using fine, sterile needles at specific acupuncture points on the body. This activates the body’s “qi” and promotes natural healing to take place by enhancing the immune system, restoration in the body both physically and mentally.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a therapy that uses an herb called mugwort. It may be burned on the handle of a needle or above the skin. This is used to “warm”acupuncture points or areas in order to quicken the healing process. Moxibustion is known to aid in immune system support, pain management due to osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, meniscal tears, or any injuries that are not easily healing, blood clotting disorders and other cardiovascular dysfunctions, inflammatory disorders and neuralgia that may disrupt normal circulatory flow.
Cupping
Cupping is a therapy designed to stimulate the flow of blood and qi within the superficial muscle layers by using small glass or plastic “cups” over specific areas on your body. It is used for conditions such as sore muscles, muscle tension, neck pain, and the common cold.
BioMat
The Biomat is a U.S. FDA Medical Device using Far-Infrared, Negative Ions, and Amethyst Crystals. Use of a BioMat reduces stress and fatigue, soothes and relaxes, supports the immune system, improves sleep (if associated with pain relief), reduces inflammation (where applied), promotes relaxation by application of heat and promotes restful sleep for those with occasional sleeplessness.
